The agreement, in one screen.
By creating an account, scanning an item, or otherwise using The Hoard ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
The Hoard is operated by the entity behind the @hoard platform. We may update these Terms; material changes will be announced via the Service. Continued use after notice constitutes acceptance.
One person · one account · permanent number.
You are one person. One account. A founding number is permanent - even if you let your account lapse, the number is yours.
You are responsible for activity under your account. Don't share credentials. We may suspend accounts that violate these Terms, exhibit abuse patterns, or damage the trust of the room.
Be specific. Be honest.
Don't post stolen, illegal, harassing, or deceptive content. Don't impersonate other collectors, brands, or The Hoard staff.
Don't list counterfeit goods or misrepresent items. Brand Partner verification is a trust signal; abusing it is a permanent ban.
Don't use the Service to coordinate off-platform harm.
Scanning + identification (Project Gideon).
The Hoard provides item identification via Project Gideon, a proprietary feature-matching system backed by a private reference database. You retain ownership of the photos and metadata you submit; you grant The Hoard a worldwide, royalty-free license to use submitted material to operate, improve, and protect the Service.
Project Gideon is provided "as is." Confidence scores are guidance, not authentication. Brand Partner verification on a specific item carries the brand's trust; absent such verification, you should rely on your own judgment and on-platform provenance.
Anti-scraping + reverse engineering.
You may NOT, and may not permit others to: (a) access the Service or its APIs through automated means without our express written permission; (b) extract, replicate, or download substantial portions of the reference database, scan responses, or any non-public data; (c) decompile, disassemble, reverse engineer, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code, feature descriptors, or matching algorithm; (d) circumvent rate limits, authentication, watermarks, honeypots, or other protective measures; (e) train any machine-learning model on The Hoard content without our prior written consent.
Violations may result in account termination, civil action, and referral to law enforcement. Watermarked data traced back to a violating account is admissible evidence of scraping.
Researchers may request authorized API access by writing to legal@thehoard.social. We respond.
Intellectual property.
The Hoard, "Project Gideon," "Hoard Identification," the coin marks, and the wordmark are trademarks of the operating entity. The reference database, feature descriptors, matching algorithm, and source code are trade secrets and protected by copyright, trademark, and patent law where applicable.
Content you submit remains yours. Content other collectors submit remains theirs.
Coins + physical twins.
Coins are minted on event check-in (and for the Founding cohort, on platform onboarding). Each coin has a digital edition + a physical twin produced via on-demand fabrication.
Physical-twin shipping is best-effort within published timelines. Custom duties, taxes, and address accuracy are your responsibility. Lost shipments are replaced once per coin.
Moderation.
There is zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior on The Hoard. Objectionable content includes anything unlawful, harassing, threatening, hateful, sexually explicit, defamatory, or that targets, demeans, or endangers any person or group. Posting it, or using the Service to abuse another collector, is a breach of these Terms.
Every collector can report content and block other users from inside the app (the in-product Flag and Block affordances on posts, comments, profiles, rooms, and messages). We review reports and remove violating content and eject abusive users, ordinarily within 24 hours. Filing a false report may result in cooling-off periods.
Posts, comments, events, rooms, and submissions are subject to community + staff moderation. Submission review is multi-reviewer; bad-faith patterns trigger trust-score downgrades and may result in account suspension.
Termination.
You may delete your account at any time via your profile. We may suspend or terminate accounts for material breach of these Terms, abuse, or legal requirement. Terms surviving termination: §05 (Anti-scraping), §06 (IP), §10 (Disclaimers), §11 (Contact).
Disclaimers + limitations.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. WE DISCLAIM ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES.
Aggregate liability is capped at the greater of (a) USD 100 or (b) amounts paid by you to The Hoard in the preceding 12 months.
